As a licensed California Real Estate
Broker and B-1 General Contractor and developer, Terry Debay has
raised the money for, financed, owned, supervised and was responsible
for the construction of Apartments, Industrial Buildings, mini storage
warehouses, bowling alleys, restaurants and single family residences
in several States including California, Arizona and Indiana. He
acted as the successful General partner of several Limited partnerships
engaged in the purchase and rehab of investment properties in Southern
California including apartments and commercial buildings. Mr. Debay
also managed the San Marino office of the H. Bruce Haines, Inc.
Apartment House Brokers, and had managerial responsibility for 20
plus agents and also sold apartments during that tenure. He incorporated
“California Real Estate Consults, Inc.” in 1980 and worked as an
independent Broker and syndicator for 15 years. Last year, 2004
Mr. Debay performed as the general contractor for the building addition
of a mini storage warehouse in Fort Wayne Indiana. After a trip
back to the job site to let the sub contracts, He completed supervising
the construction of the addition via daily digital camera pictures
and telephone and fax data. The construction was completed on time
and done in a professional manor and is now fully leased. Mr. Debay
recently joined Ramsey-Shilling’s Newport Beach office. He currently
works with a diversified group of real estate investors helping
them to invest into various investment opportunities throughout
the United States.
As an All City, Canoga Park high school
football athlete, Mr. Debay received both an athletic and academic,
full scholarship to UCLA in 1951. During his four years at UCLA
he was one of three players to play first string all 4 years as
a varsity football letterman. In 1954 the UCLA football team, coached
by Henry “Red” Sanders, was undefeated and voted the number “1”
team in the nation. Mr. Debay was the offensive signal caller and
voted the MVP on the “54” team. After graduation he coached football
for two years at Oregon State College under head Coach Tommy Prothro.
Mr. Debay started his 3.5 year Air Force
Military obligation in 1956 at Lackland Air Force Base. He graduated
from Air Force pilot training, (class 57-K) in 1957 as a 1st Lt.
USAF Jet Pilot. He also played and coached one more season of Football
at Hamilton AFB, in Marin County California.
Terry Debay has been married to his wife
Jan for 48 years. They have three grown married daughters and seven
grandchildren. Jan was the Mayor of Newport Beach in 1998 and is
currently an elected Board of Director member of the Orange County
Water District.
Mr. Debay and Jan currently minister
to the Community through “Go and Do Likewise” a 501-c-3 non profit
organization started in 1996 to help people in the Community with
their physical and spiritual needs. They both attend Cottonwood
Christian Center Church in Los Alamitos.
During the past 45 years, he has also
been involved founding, supporting and working with various Christian
Ministries as a board member and or by joining with other Christian
leaders in various groups including: Campus Crusade For Christ,
with Bill Bright, President and founder also being one of the founders
of the Association of Christians in Real Estate (ACRE), So. California
Promise Keepers, with Bill McCartney, as one of three men to open
up So Calif. for Promise Keepers, and with “The Fellowship of Christian
Athletes”, (FCA). He represented FCA as a guest speaker throughout
Southern California student groups and churches. Mr. Debay was also
a Board member of Ignite Ministries, founded by Tim Hansel, plus
other involvements with Teen Challenge.
Mr. Debay’s passion is to lift up Jesus
